  • What is a crop tissue sample?
    A sample is a ...
  • How do I take a sample?
Taking a sample is simple as taking 10 leaves from your sample location and using the Picketa Sampler to scan them. The scanning process is integrated within the Sampler, which will guide you through the process of taking a white reference and placing the probe onto the leaves and pressing scan. Once your scans are complete, the data is sent to the cloud where we will analyze and inform you of your results.
  • How can I access my results?
TODO: ADD Access your results in the Picketa Platform, get a report sent to you by email, or connect your Agrian account to get results in your existing platform.

  • How do the results compare to the lab?
TODO: ADD Agronomist / farmer validation Research trials Tolerances From internal FAQ (Needs update, has improved a lot since then): Our accuracy is mapped out per nutrient in the table below. Here is what each of the metrics means. 50th Percentile Error = there is a 50% chance that you are within +/- _.__ (% or ppm) of the actual value (tolerance/error 50% of the scan performed) 70th Percentile Error = there is a 70% chance that you are within +/- _.__ (% or ppm) of the actual value (tolerance/error 70% of the scan performed) 90th Percentile Error = there is a 90% chance that you are within +/- _.__ (% or ppm) of the actual value (tolerance/error 90% of the scan performed) Classification Accuracy = The odds of a nutrient estimation being classified the same (low, sufficient, or high) as its actual concentration. Nutrient 50th Percentile Error 70th Percentile Error 90th Percentile Error Classification Accuracy Nitrogen (%) 0.34 0.52 0.88 79.26% Nitrate Nitrogen (%) 0.31 0.49 0.82 70.34% Sulfur (%) 0.02 0.03 0.05 92.04% Phosphorus (%) 0.02 0.04 0.09 88.65% Potassium (%) 0.66 1.07 1.74 82.84% Magnesium (%) 0.14 0.21 0.36 73.80% Calcium (%) 0.16 0.28 0.49 78.42% Boron (ppm) 3.57 5.30 9.53 79.88% Zinc (ppm) 7.96 13.06 23.00 68.38% Manganese (ppm) 82.46 129.53 245.51 78.45% Copper (ppm) 1.44 2.33 4.28 84.87% Whether accuracy is good or not is up to the end-users and decision-makers. For some customers, the metrics described above are acceptable; their motivation is that the frequency and volume of the sample tested should outweigh the quality and exactitude of such test (i.e., sample more, more often). For other customers, they believe laboratories to be the ground truth. They can't see themselves making the switch before seeing other people succeed. Such difference in conviction and risk tolerance is the difference between early adopters and the early/late majority. So, our clients determine whether or not they are okay with the accuracy while we keep trying to make it better. We are very confident we can make it better with more data collection and controlled trials. What we have now is only the beginning. We can consistently market it in a way that sounds good, but ultimately the customer will decide if they like it until we have data to prove that it's good enough.

  • What if I don't have internet connection?
TODO: ADD From internal FAQ (Needs update): Our mobile application is developed in a way that users' data is cached until the users find themselves within Wi-Fi or Cellular (3G, LTE or 5G) range. (e.g., "farmer A" goes to his furthest field north, "field X," once he gets to field X, he realizes there is no cellular reception, farmer A proceeds by doing all of his sampling, although results aren't received in real-time, he knows the geo-located data is cached in his cellphone. On his way to the Agromart, his favourite ag-product retailer, he re-enters cellular range, and the cached data is automatically sent to the cloud for analysis, and the results are received on his phone by the time he arrives at the store.)
  • Can I sample other crops?
TODO: ADD No, we are adding crops to our capacity as we can, the currently supported crops are: - Potatoes Request a crop -> contact
  • Can a individual farmer get a Sampling Station
Yes, however we usually partner with service providers who take samples for several farms. If a large farms wants their own sampling station, we can Find a vendor -> link to vendors
